ASUS Reveals 500 Hz ROG Swift Esports Monitor With E-TN Panel and G-Sync

Back in 2012, ASUS released the world's first ever 144 Hz monitor, and we've been chasing high refresh rates ever since. From the first 240 Hz NVIDIA G-SYNC display we released in 2017 to the first 360 Hz display in 2020, ROG is committed to pushing competitive gaming to new heights at every opportunity. Now, we're ecstatic to announce that we've done it again: introducing the ROG Swift 500 Hz, a groundbreaking new gaming monitor that refreshes 500 times per second, for the most fluid, fast-paced motion you'll find in modern Esports.

In competitive, intense firefights, every single millisecond counts. The ROG Swift 500 Hz draws frames more than eight times faster than typical 60 Hz displays in a single second, which means you have that much more time to get a leg up on your opponent in esports titles like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valorant, Overwatch, and Rainbow Six Siege. With super low response times and unprecedented improvements in input lag, the ROG Swift 500 Hz is the new benchmark in Esports, offering the same competitive advantage that made its 360 Hz predecessor the official display at last year's DOTA 2 The International championship. The ROG Swift 500 Hz features a 24.1-inch Full HD (1920x1080) panel, allowing your GPU to push as many frames as possible. ROG was able to push refresh rates to the limit by using new Esports TN (E-TN) technology, which offers 60% better response times than standard TN panels, allowing us to reach a new milestone in speed and clarity.

BenQ Launches 4K HDR Gaming Projector

BenQ has launched a new, quirky projector and this time the company is targeting gamers. The X3000i as the model is known as, is a 4LED DLP projector that claims to have low input lag. Although it supports 4K, this is only at 60 Hz, but it has two different 1080p gaming modes that support either 240 Hz with a 4.16 ms input lag or 120 Hz with an 8 ms input lag. It sports a total of three HDMI 2.0b ports, of which the third, hidden port is occupied by an HDMI dongle that adds "smart" features to the projector. It's the QS01 dongle that we've seen before from BenQ, but it has been updated to Android 10. Other connectivity consists of a single USB Type-A 2.0 port that can deliver 2.5 A, an RS232 serial port, a DC 12 V trigger jackm, as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack and an optical S/PDIF out. One of the accessible HDMI ports supports eARC and the X3000i has a pair of integrated speakers that delivers a not too powerful 10 W audio output.

The projector can be ceiling mounted and also comes with a pair of extra feet that are apparently used when mounting the projector upside down. BenQ has included a 1.3x zoom option that can reduce the throw distance and the X3000i can produce a 120-inch image with a three metre throw distance. There are three different brightness settings, with a maximum brightness of 3000 lumens and the contrast ratio with lightsource dimming enabled is 500,000:1, although BenQ doesn't mention the default contrast ratio. There are also multiple different image presets for RPG, FPS and sports games. This is not some little dinky portable projector though, as it weighs in at 6.4 kg and has a typical power consumption of 330 W. It's also not cheap at US$1,999/€1,899, but if it delivers on its promised specs, it should at least be competitively priced.

ASUS Announces ROG Swift PG279QM 1440P 240 Hz 27" IPS Gaming Monitor

Back in 2015, the ROG Swift PG279Q gaming monitor was among the first to combine NVIDIA G-SYNC tech with a balanced 2560x1440 resolution, an IPS-type panel, and a high 165Hz refresh rate. It's since racked up a mountain of accolades. Five years on, graphics cards have gotten much more powerful, and gaming displays need even higher refresh rates in order to show every frame that top-end cards like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 can draw. At CES 2021, we're raising the bar for 1440p gaming displays with the ROG Swift PG279QM, our first 27" 2560x1440 display with a 240Hz refresh rate.

A 240Hz refresh rate is a big step up in fluidity and responsiveness from the 144Hz max refresh rate typical of most 2560x1440 displays, but that's just one part of the puzzle for a top-end gaming experience. Blurry moving images can muddy your view of the action. To keep every frame crisp, the PG279QM employs the latest ASUS Fast IPS panel technology for a quick 1 ms gray-to-gray response time on average. That low response time results in a picture that's both sharp and fluid in motion, all while maintaining the wide viewing angles that IPS panels are known for.

The chassis is a KFC chicken bucket-shaped one, and is based on Intel's NUC 9 Extreme compute element paired with an unspecified ASUS graphics card - that supports ray tracing.

Xiaomi Could be Preparing to Launch 240 Hz, 360 Hz 1080p Gaming Monitors Starting at $145

Reports circulating the web point towards Xiaomi planning to take the high-refresh rate market by storm, following very interesting releases in the more "mainstream" gaming display market. Reports place the company as preparing for an announcement on November 11th for the launch of a new, 1080p high-refresh-rate monitor. Sources seem to be in disagreement over the actual refresh rate - whether 240 Hz or 360 Hz - but they are adamant that a product - or perhaps both products - will emerge.

The $145 pricing is something that Xiaomi could well pull-off; the company tends to bet on market penetration first, before scaling its production with higher ASP products. Diagonal are expected at the 24.5" range, and a 1080p panel is all but guaranteed at those refresh rates. It's currently uncertain what kind of panel technology is at stake here - some mention AUO's IPS solutions, while others claim a TN panel is mandatory to achieve these prices. There's only so much tech that can be bought into with $145. That said, this monitor could become an extremely attractive proposition for gamers on a budget, though we all know that 360 Hz (and even 240 Hz) at 1080p are somewhat hard to achieve due to CPU limitations on performance.

GIGABYTE Unveils its First SuperSpeed IPS Gaming Monitor FI25F

GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co. Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, today has announced their first SuperSpeed tactical gaming monitor, AORUS FI25F. It uses GIGABYTE SuperSpeed IPS technology to achieve a 0.4 ms (MPRT) response time with a 240 Hz refresh rate, allowing gamers to acquire sharp picture quality with high refresh rates at the same time. Before long, the pursuit of speed limits at the TN panel but the lack of image quality had been criticized for some time. With the presence of SuperSpeed IPS, gamers can finally enjoy the speed while having detailed image quality. A screen size of 24.5 inches with fast response time and refresh rate, the AORUS FI25F is ideal for FPS gamers to upgrade their monitors.

Besides having a fast response time, the AORUS FI25F has a decent color performance of native 8-bit panels with 100% sRGB standards, so the monitor can provide users astonishingly beautiful pictures. Moreover, the monitor has passed VESA certified DisplayHDR 400 standards which gives gamers spectacular display quality. With AMD Radeon FreeSync technology, the monitor can provide the most fluent gaming experience that allows you to enjoy gaming without picture stripping.
